Manson Interpretation of the Bible

Manson saw himself as the fifth angel referred to in the first verse.  Later in the Chapter, it discusses a plague of locusts with men’s faces with women’s hair as seen in this quotation, “and the shape of locusts were like unto horses prepared for war; and upon their heads as it were crowns like unto gold, and their faces were as men’s.  And they had hair as the hair of women” (v. 7-8).  Since Charles Manson also believed that the musical group, The Beatles, was informing him to kill, he believed that this part of Chapter 9 was in reference to The Beatles.  Manson also believed that the “pit of the abyss” spoken about in verse 1 was in Death Valley, which is where he took the family.  Finally, the end of Chapter 9 states “And the four angels were loosed, that had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, that they should kill the third part of men.”  Manson, ultimately, believed that this meant the start of a racially driven war where the black race overcame the white race.  He referred to this war as Helter Skelter.  Manson tried to start this revolution when he had Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwickle, and Leslie Van Houten murder nine people over the course of two days.
